Who offers hope for hurting Moms? Where do we turn when life is difficult and we need to pause but simply can’t because…well, we’re Moms.
We expect speed bumps, twists and even breakdowns by the side of the road. But knowing these will be our travelling companions does not make hard seasons any less difficult.
We may run to friends for encouragement. We may dive into distraction. We may eat an unmentionable amount of chocolate.
We know we don’t need cliches, platitudes and mind over matter attempts.
But that may be all we see when we look around.
So when the house is quiet and your head hits the pillow, where do you turn? How do you work through your feelings in the silence of the night?
Truth-filled music can penetrate in a way that little else can. In my darkest seasons, when I am desperate for hope, I turn to faith-filled music that reaches the depth of my pain.
So I compiled this for us. For you.
The one with a scary diagnosis. The one inhaling fear and despair. The one whose heart has been shattered into unrecognizable pieces.
This is for you.
When you wonder how to take the next step forward and exhaustion blocks the light.
This is for you.
In the quiet of your pain, carve out a moment to soak in the truth of your Creator’s love and care, especially in your right now valley.
This is for you.

Break Up Song
Hope for hurting Moms by Francesca Batestilli
I had to end this playlist with a song I have had on repeat this month. For an upbeat, kick-fear-to-the-curb tune, check out one of my favourite singers.
Artists who combine their faith, message and musical giftings deserve a special honour. If you found encouragement in these songs, consider purchasing some music from their collections.
I would love to hear which song impacted you the most. And why. As always, you can email me directly so we can journey together. I promise not to offer cliches.

It would be an honour to share even more hope with you:
Some of my favorite singers as well. They have such a different feel than the songs I listened to growing up when I was upset. You know, the ones that seem to make that downward spiral move even faster. Thanks for this list!
Oh yes, Ana. There are songs that can suck us into the vortex of sadness at high speeds. We sure have to be intentional with what we allow into our minds, don’t we?
Absolutely!!
What a beautiful playlist!
When I’m going through a rough time, music soothes my soul and the Lord has always given me particular songs that speak directly to the pain I’m feeling in the moment, giving hope and comfort.
Blessings, Trust in You, Your Hands, and Steady My Heart have each been played on repeat at at different stages of my journey – songs speak so deeply to me when I can’t think straight.
Right now, Even if by Mercy Me, Resurrection Power by Chris Tomlin & especially Do it Again by Elevation Worship are blessing me again and again.
What a lovely gift! Thank you.
“Songs speak to me so deeply when I can’t think straight.” Isn’t that the truth, Lisa? I have a deep respect for gifted musicians who serve listeners in this way.
